Close to the coastal resort of Porec, this medieval walled town is famous for a mouthwatering delicacy: black and white truffles. In fact, the area still holds the Guinness World Record for the biggest truffle ever found (a whopping 1.31kg). Surrounded by vineyards, and with incredible views from its high vantage point, it’s not hard to see why Motovun is one of the most visited villages in Croatia.

Vespa tours: a different way to explore Motovun

You’ll start your scooter tour of this beautiful area when you’re picked up at your accommodation and taken to Motovun. You’ll be in a small group of up to five or six people, so you can enjoy the day in a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of attention from your guide.vespa tour croazia 2
From Motovun, you’ll hop on a scooter and enjoy the freedom of the open road. You’ll ride through the Mirna river valley, cruising through vineyards and olive groves and visiting some of central Istria’s most picturesque hilltop towns, including Oprtalj, Zavrsje and Groznjan.

En route, you’ll enjoy stunning scenery peppered with historic sites, and it’s a great way to get a sense of what life in Istria was like in days gone by. You’ll have a delicious lunch in a local tavern in Oprtalj, and you’ll also get to stop to taste some of the region’s delicacies, including olive oil, honey and of course truffles. When you’re back in Motovun you’ll have the chance to do some sightseeing before you’re taken back to your accommodation at about 5pm – just in time for a nap before dinner!
